KFON, short for Kerala Fiber Optic Network, is an initiative by the Government of Kerala aimed at promoting digital inclusion and equal opportunities through the provision of internet access to its citizens. The project boasts an impressive infrastructure that includes 2600 kilometers of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) and 30000 kilometers of All di-Electric Self Supporting (ADSS) Optical Fiber Cable. In addition, KFON features a cutting-edge Network Operating Center (NOC) located at Infopark Kochi, 375 Points of Presence (POPs) at KSEBL Substations across Kerala, and connectivity to over 30000 government institutions. Noteworthy is the initiative's provision of free internet to 14000 economically weaker households.
